Your Astronomy Olympiad guide

Give your preparation a direction.

A practical NSEA preparation route for Class X, XI and XII students, with a custom study plan and weekly routine.

Begin with a diagnosis, not a book stack

Read the syllabus, then try a recent official paper. Mark each question as “can solve”, “know the idea” or “not studied”. This tells you where your next study hour will help most.

If a full paper feels too difficult, start with our foundation lessons and short practice sets, then return to it. The foundation bank does not cover the entire syllabus.

Choose your starting point

Your stageA useful priority
Class XBridge into Class XI mechanics, vectors, trigonometry and basic calculus gradually. Expect many topics to be new.
Class XIStrengthen mechanics and algebra while making deliberate time for Class XII physics and mathematics.
Class XIIDiagnose across the complete syllabus, practise mixed sets and develop a reliable time strategy.

Build a practical study plan

Choose the time you have. This is a flexible learning schedule, not a guarantee of selection.

A weekly routine you can repeat

  • Three days: learn one concept, work an example, then solve without notes.
  • Two days: mix physics, mathematics and elementary astronomy questions.
  • One day: attempt a timed section or, when ready, a full official paper.
  • One day: review your error log, retry missed questions and rest.

Make an error log that changes what you do

RecordExample
The mistakeUsed diameter where the angular-size formula needed radius.
Why it happenedDid not sketch and label the geometry.
A correctionWrite θ ≈ D/d with D labelled as the full diameter.
A retry dateSolve again after two days, then after a week.

In the final fortnight

Work from errors and high-priority gaps you can realistically close. Practise time limits, check multi-correct selection carefully and protect sleep. Do not assume that memorising a list of “important astronomy facts” replaces physics and maths.

The registration window is separate from preparation. If you missed 2026 enrolment, these resources remain useful for learning; future-cycle dates and eligibility need a fresh official check.
